This article explains how to switch your existing CloudCall installation on Windows 11 to the Microsoft Store version.
We recommend switching to the Microsoft Store version because it enables automatic updates, ensuring you always have the latest features, improvements, and fixes without needing to manually download or install new versions.
Why use the Microsoft Store version of CloudCall?
Installing CloudCall from the Microsoft Store provides the following benefits:
Automatic updates managed by Microsoft Store
Faster access to features, functionality and performance enhancements
Reduced risk of running an outdated or unsupported version
Simplified installation and permissions management via Windows
For the best experience and long-term stability, all users should use the Microsoft Store version of CloudCall.
How updates work for CloudCall
When CloudCall is installed from the Microsoft Store:
Updates are automatically triggered and installed by Microsoft Store in the background.
This ensures you always run the latest supported version without manual intervention.
Manually checking for updates
If you want to manually check whether an update is available:

FAQ
Why do only Microsoft Store installations receive automatic updates?
Auto-updates are delivered through the Microsoft Store’s infrastructure.
The MSI downloaded from the CloudCall website is a standalone installer and does not support auto-update mechanisms in this release.
Will I receive notifications when an update is available?
No.
This initial release does not include update notifications. Microsoft Store–installed versions update silently in the background.
The softphone application is updated automatically by the Microsoft Store service. A background process checks for available updates approximately every 8 hours. If an update is detected, it will only be installed when the application is closed or fully terminated.
Users cannot control the timing of automatic updates. If the application remains open, the update will be deferred until it is no longer running.
If you need to install an update immediately, open the Microsoft Store, go to the Library or the application’s page, and select Update to manually trigger the installation.
If I download from the CloudCall website, how do I stay updated?
Users who install via manual MSI download must periodically check the CloudCall website or internal IT distribution channels for updated versions
Is functionality different between Store-installed and manually installed versions?

The only functional difference is auto-update support for Microsoft Store installs.
Will the Softphone auto-update if my IT team deploys it locally?
No.
Only versions installed via the Microsoft Windows App Store support automatic updates.
