CloudCall o1 supports P2P (Person-to-Person) SMS messaging, which refers to messages exchanged between individuals.
This guide will help you navigate and utilize SMS messaging features within the CloudCall o1 Desktop Softphone. It covers how to view, send, and manage SMS messages using the app.
đź’ˇImportant: Do you have the latest desktop softphone app version?
Viewing SMS Messages in the Softphone
From the Messages Tab
- Open the CloudCall o1 softphone app on your desktop.
- Navigate to the MESSAGES tab at the bottom-right.
- You will see a list of conversations organized by recipient name and date.
- If there’s a new message, a notification (e.g., a black circle with a white “1”) will appear next to the conversation. Once you view or respond to the message, the indicator will disappear.
- Example: A black circle with a white "1" indicates an unread message from Natalie dated 11/28/23.
- Click on the contact to view the conversation history.
From the Contacts Tab
You can initiate a text message in two ways:
Option A: Directly from the Contact List
- Click on the CONTACTS tab and search for the desired contact.
- Click the Message button next to the contact’s name in the results list.
Option B: From the Contact’s Profile
- Click on the CONTACTS tab and search for the desired contact.
- Click on the contact’s name to open their Contact Details page.
- On the Contact Details page, click the Message button under the contact’s name.
- The New Message page will appear, where you can type and send your text.
From the History Tab
- Click on the HISTORY tab.
- Locate the contact and click the three dots next to their name.
- Select the Message option from the dropdown.
- The New Message page will appear, where you can type and send your text.
Sending an SMS Message from the Softphone
Type & Send a Message
When you reach New Message or Message History page from the Contacts, History or Messages tabs you can type and send your message:
- On the New Message page, tap into the “Your message” box at the bottom of the screen.
- Type your message. The character counter will display the total characters and segments.
- Send the message by tapping the send icon (arrow) on the right.
Long Text Messages (Over 160 Characters)
If your SMS exceeds 160 characters, you may see a discrete warning flash on the Softphone that reads, “You have exceeded the 160-character limit.”
CloudCall splits texts over 160 characters into multiple segments. On the recipient’s phone, these segments are shown as a single, continuous message.
Example:
A recruiter sends the following text, “Hi [Candidate Name], We’ve reviewed your application for the Project Manager role at XYZ Corp and would love to schedule an interview! Are you available this Thursday or Friday afternoon? Let me know!”
- Message length: 203 characters
- Segment breakdown:
- Segment 1: First 160 characters
- Segment 2: Remaining 43 characters
