SIP Forking is the process of splitting (or forking) a SIP call to multiple endpoints. This allows the one incoming call to ring at multiple locations, either all at once (parallel forking) or one device at a time (sequential forking).
With SIP forking you can have your desk phone ring at the same time as your softphone or a SIP phone on your mobile. For example, you would use SIP forking to ring your desk phone or softphone (CloudCall Communicator) and your CloudCall Go mobile app at the same time, allowing you to take the call from either device or app easily. No forwarding rules would be necessary as both devices would ring.
Inbound call behaviour when logged into Multiple Devices (SIP – Forking)
1. When you are logged into multiple devices (CloudCall Communicator Softphone +
CloudCall Go Mobile Application), you will notice that the “Answer” button in the Chrome
UC extension is greyed out.
2. This is because as the Chrome UC extension is not a physical phone and it’s requesting you
to answer the call on the physical device.
3. If you would like to answer call through the CloudCall Communicator desktop application,
you will need to use the banner notification that pops-up on the bottom right corner of
the computer screen:
4. If you would like to answer the call on the CloudCall Go mobile application, you will need
answer through the mobile app itself.
